Aircraft above the Namib dunes
Fly-in & scenic flights

A different perspective.

Use flights where they give you more time in the places you came to see. A fly-in journey can connect contrasting landscapes while reducing some of the longer road transfers.

Choose the stays first

We begin with the places and number of nights, then assess the flight connections and transfers. A flight is useful when it improves the journey as a whole, including the time between the airstrip and your accommodation.

Know the practical details

Small-aircraft travel may have specific baggage and passenger requirements. Aircraft availability, schedules and weather also affect the route. These arrangements are confirmed by the operator before booking; a fly-in safari does not include flying instruction unless separately arranged.

A flight can change the journey.

A scenic flight adds a different view of a place you are already visiting. A fly-in itinerary uses flights to connect your stays. They are different experiences, and it helps to decide which you are looking for.

Start with the landscape

For the dunes and coast, consider a scenic flight during your time around Swakopmund. If you want to reach several remote places in a shorter trip, discuss a flight-based route before choosing lodges.
