Desert elephant in Damaraland
Start here

Your first safari.

Begin with what you hope to get out of the trip. Wildlife, time outdoors, a proper rest or the pleasure of seeing somewhere new: the answer will help us make the first decisions together.

Planning notes from Sol Safaris

Choose three priorities

Write down the places or experiences that matter most. A shorter list helps protect the nights and budget for those things before adding more stops. It also makes it easier to decide what can wait for another trip.

Read a day from beginning to end

Ask where you wake up, how long you travel, when you eat and how much time remains on arrival. This tells you more about the trip than the number of landmarks in the itinerary. Include the first and last travel days in the time available.

Begin with three decisions

  1. Your main interest. Wildlife, dramatic scenery, active days, or a balance of all three?
  2. Your available time. Include arrival and departure days, and be honest about how often you want to move.
  3. Your way of travelling. Decide how much driving and logistics you want to handle yourself.

Leave space between the highlights

Namibia rewards a generous pace. A route can look simple on a map and still involve long road days. Ask your planner to walk you through the rhythm of the trip, including rest stops and time at each stay.

Questions worth bringing to your planner

Can the itinerary be adapted?

Tell us what you would like more or less of. The classic itinerary is a starting point; the final route depends on your dates, preferences, and availability.

Are wildlife sightings guaranteed?

No. Wildlife moves freely and conditions change. Plan enough time for patient viewing and enjoy the landscape as part of the experience.

What should I check before booking?

Review the exact itinerary, inclusions, payment and cancellation terms, and flight connections. Check current entry and health requirements with the relevant official authorities and your travel-health professional.

What should I tell you in an enquiry?

Your approximate dates, number of travellers, budget range, preferred pace, and the experiences you are most drawn to.

Choose your travel style

Compare self-drive with a privately guided safari.
